A knitters dream bag! This tote is 18″ wide X 14″ tall X 5.25″ deep with a flat bottom. It has a full zip top (to keep that yarn safe) an inside zip pocket (for small items), 2 outside open panel pockets (great for needles) and a zip outside pocket. Each bag is made from beautiful traditional hand-loomed cotton from Bhaktapur and hand block printed by Ram Shekhar. Also great for a computer or the beach! Assorted color/print combination, each unique, all beautiful!
Description
Woodblock printing is an ancient Nepalese art form that we at Ganesh Himal Trading strive to use as often as possible in the hopes of preserving this beautiful craft. We have partnered with Ram Shekhar who has a very small business in which he personally carves each wood block, and stamps each design, producing many of GHT’s block printed bags, hats and 
wallets for nearly 30 years.
Ram’s home was badly damaged by the earthquake on April 25, 2015 and his entire family was relocated to a tent for several months but unfortunately at 5am one morning they awoke to water pouring into their tents which quickly rose to their necks. They were flooded out of that place so that he and his family had no choice but to move back into their damaged home.
In October of 2015 we visited with Ram and saw that the top two stories of his ancestral home had collapsed and that the home had been deemed unsafe. GHT & CCF provided monthly rent for a safe space for him to work so that he could continue to make an income and rebuild. In 2021 GHT gave Ram an interest free loan of $3500 to repair his roof. He is slowly paying us back as he is able. We will continue to monitor his situation to see if there are other ways that we can assist him to stay on his feet and for his family to reconstruct a safe dwelling.
