Clothing has always been a large part of Ganesh Himal Trading’s focus, whether it be sweaters, knitwear, shirts, pants, or dresses, and we have always paid close attention to what we produce and the impact on people and the planet. Clothing is something culturally we only pay attention to for how it makes us look and feel but at Ganesh Himal we incorporate so much more.

We believe in slow fashion, not fast fashion. So we create items that will not only be in our customers’ closets for a very long time but will be in style for a long time, so there will be no need to replace them every few months. This is easier on the producers since they aren’t constantly challenged by new patterns and easier on the earth since customers aren’t disposing of it to buy the latest style. We create base items that people can have for years and accessorize around and we have shirts and pants we have sold for 30 years because their designs have staying power.

We believe that everyone should have access to fairly traded clothing, and so we pay attention to affordability and create pants, shirts and dresses that all of us can buy while at the same time providing consistent, well-paid work to the producers.

We believe functionality creates products that will stay in consumers’ lives and not be tossed out without a thought. Functional clothing is worn over and over again, loved and valued, and doesn’t need to be replaced on a whim. We are also sure to include pockets… lots of pockets!

We live and breathe Fair Trade at Ganesh Himal and so we pay attention to our producers’ lives.
