Menstrual Training in Nepal

Menstrual Hygiene Day is on May 28, but CCF works year-round in Nepal to help bring awareness to the barriers women and girls face due to their period AND to help remove those barriers through education, training and reusable pad distribution! Thanks to all of our donors, we recently completed a two-day menstrual hygiene and first aid training for 63 women and girls in Nuwakot.

The hands-on training was a great success, and the women were grateful to learn more about their bodies and how to care for themselves. They also appreciated the first aid training since many don’t live close to any clinic. Now they are excited to teach their friends and families what they have learned. Seven women were selected from 3 other villages to become leaders and were given instructions and support on how to do trainings in their villages. All of the participants were given reusable menstrual kits and 400 additional kits were given to distribute in future trainings. We also distributed CCF’s menstrual hygiene manuals to participants, local schools and local female health volunteers, and we took supplies and taught women how to make their own reusable cloth pads. That has been a highlight of our recent trainings.
